United States Coast Guard certified VMT Oily Water Separators meet the IMO resolution MEPC.60(33) and Marpol 73/78 standards for 15 ppm limits for discharge from the machinery bilge spaces of ships.
Designed with the mariner in mind, the Oily Water Separator (OWS) combines simplicity and reliability to produce a fully automatic system that operates continuously with virtually no maintenance.
The OWS utilizes permanent media - which never requires cleaning or replacement - in a unique, two-pass design to produce effluent with exceptionally low oil levels. The separation process is as follows:

• As the oily water first enters the large volume pass chamber, its velocity slows dramatically. This reduction in speed accelerates the natural separation process and forces the vast majority of oil out of the water. Prior to exiting the unit, the oily water passes through a second oil retentive polishing chamber. Any residual oil will cling to the polymer polishing beads, which possess an amazing affinity for oil.

• When enough oil collects in the separator, clean water discharge is secured and a flush cycle is automatically initiated. When the flush cycle is complete the unit automatically resumes operation with absolutely no operator action.

Simple to operate, easy to maintain and exceptionally rugged, the OWS is the affordable solution to all of your oil separation needs.
